Riga Central Market welcomes you to a creative, vibrant and healthy event dedicated to Children’s Day
On Sunday, 31 May 2015, from 11 AM to 2 PM the Riga Central Market will host a special event dedicated to the Children’s Day. Visitors to the event will have the opportunity to take part in sports activities, fun games, creative workshops and master class in making healthy smoothies.
“This year, we have chosen healthy lifestyle as the main theme for the Children’s Day, as it incorporates both healthy eating and physical activity. Therefore, in addition to a rich and varied range of fruits, vegetables and other bounties of nature available to shoppers at the Riga Central Market, we have decided to organize fun games and sports activities as part of the Children’s Day, in order to remind the kids and youth of the joy that movement brings to our lives before they break up for the summer holidays. Young participants of the event will get support from our new friends – Baggie and Little Basket who will give away great prizes to the most active players,” Anatolijs Abramovs, Chairman of the Board of Riga Municipality JSC Riga Central Market, points out.
From 11 AM to 2 PM, Nēģu Square will become a venue for various sports activities. Everyone can try their luck and test their agility in fishing for carrots, beating a drum, knocking down cans and even milking a cow.
Nutrition specialist Lizete Maldere will study the food pyramid together with children. At the same time, a master class in making health smoothies will be held under the leadership of coach and ardent supporter of healthy eating Kārlis Birmanis. Visitors will get a chance to try all the beverages made, as well as learn the recipes and secrets of their preparation.
During the event, everyone will have the opportunity to take part in creative workshops and let their imagination run riot, creating their own lucky badge or a special sports T-shirt, which no one else will have.
Throughout the event, the participants will get encouragement from the new friends of the Riga Central Market – the mascots Baggie and Little Basket. They will be happy to take pictures with the children and hand out prizes to the most active of them.
Participation in all activities and workshops on 31 May will be free of charge. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the vibrant and creative atmosphere and shop in the Riga Central Market, while also drawing new ideas on how to make the daily life more active, healthy and delicious.
See you in the most colourful place in the heart of Riga – the Riga Central Market!
