Riga Central Market welcomes you to Easter celebrations

The Riga Central Market is hosting Easter celebrations on 18 April 2014 from 11 AM to 3 PM. The event is geared toward families with children, but everyone is welcome. During the celebrations, the Puppet Theatre actress and director Laila Kirmuška with her trusty assistant the Easter Bunny will invite everyone to participate in creative activities. At the same time, the chef Javier Garcia will host a master class in pancake cooking and a tasting session in the Vegetable Pavilion.

“It is important for us that daily life with its hurried schedules and various responsibilities once in a while gets lively with celebrations when our visitors can enjoy a leisurely shopping, children get the opportunity to engage in creative activities and families may spend some exciting and quality time together. We have taken care to make our visitors feel the joyous and festive atmosphere of the Easter season and learn something new in the chef’s master class helping them enrich their everyday and special occasion cooking,” Anatolijs Abramovs, Chairman of the Board of Riga Municipality JSC Riga Central Market, explains.

Laila Kirmuška and the Easter Bunny welcome everyone to Nēģu Street Square from 11 AM to 3 PM where visitors can participate in the making of the Easter bunnies, egg colouring and large egg painting. Smaller visitors will be able to indulge in face painting to make them look like relatives of the Easter Bunny.

Throughout the entire event, visitors to Nēģu Street will have the opportunity to play large scale video games, take part in the egg rolling contest and get to watch rabbits, the relatives of the Easter Bunny, in the rabbit pen.

Meanwhile, from 11 AM to 3 PM, the Vegetable Pavilion will feature the kitchen of the TV show „Garšīgi dzīvojam” [Tasty Living] where the chef Javier Garcia will host a workshop in pancake cooking. The event will also include a blind tasting to find out the most palatable cotton cheese and the creating of the Riga Central Market’s Gourmet Club where everyone can join in and share their special Easter recipes.

All activities scheduled for 18 April will be free of charge. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the vibrant and creative atmosphere and shop in the Riga Central Market, while also drawing inspiration and positive emotions.

The Riga Central Market will also become a venue for an Easter fair on 17, 18 and 19 April.
