The Riga Central Market welcomes you to the New School Year celebrations which are to be held on Nēģu Square on 29 August 2014, from 11 AM to 2 PM. The event will feature a concert by the stars of the New Talent Factory, various contests, creative workshops and a master class by a chef. Everyone will have the opportunity to participate in charitable activities, helping multi-child families of Riga.
“The Central Market is a place which offers a variety of activities during almost every festive occasion, so it goes without saying that September 1, start of the school year, is celebrated with a special touch, inviting families with children and young people to shop with a creative mind, enjoy a holiday concert and have a good time. Each school-age visitor will receive a handy timetable template with instructions on how to make a healthy smoothie to boost energy needed for studying, while those who will join in the contests will be given lunch boxes for taking healthy snacks to school or kindergarten,” Anatolijs Abramovs, Chairman of the Board of Riga Municipality JSC Riga Central Market, tells.
The group Rock’n’berries and the stars of the New Talent Factory – Pāvels Fomkins, Kristīne Šomase and Rihards Bērziņš – will entertain visitors with a concert on Nēģu Square. Oskars Millers, the host of the event, will run engaging contests, while Arturs Orenīts, the chef of Innocent cafe, will deliver a master class on how to cook lovely snacks from the goodies available at the Central Market. Needless to say, there will also be a chance to taste them.
Several creative workshops will be available during the event: everyone will get an opportunity to design their own pin, and the smaller visitors will indulge in the pleasure of face painting.
During the entire event, everyone is welcome to take the opportunity and engage in charitable activities, such as to donate used school supplies which will be very appreciated by multi-child families in Riga or contribute funds so that large families from Riga can receive agricultural produce grown by Latvian farmers. Since the beginning of the summer, the Riga Central Market has been supporting 12 families with many children, providing them with baskets full of healthy farm-grown goodies every month.
All activities to be held during the event will be free of charge. Enjoy your shopping and join in the festivities to celebrate the start of the school year in a fun way!
