The Riga City Festival in the Medieval market

On Friday, August 16, 2013 in honor of the Riga City Festival the Central market invites city residents and guests to enjoy the real atmosphere of the Medieval market. Ancient merchants will arrive from everywhere, medieval music will sound, the smith will beat out coins of Riga’s “farthing” and various interactive creative workshops will work here.

From 11 a.m. hardworking medieval merchants will shift around on Negyu Square. They will offer to taste and buy tasty bread from bakery „Lielezers”, useful and fragrant honey products of JSC „Deiva”, fresh spices and vegetables from fields of „Ezerlichi”. During the event visitors will be able to watch work of medieval smiths and to fill up the purse with a special coin of Riga’s “farthing”.

Also visitors will be able to participate in various medieval creative workshops: the medieval workshop of beauty will tell about special recipes of beauty and give some practical advices, their guests will enjoy transformations presented by medieval make-up and hairdress; essay their power in molding of tin and candles in workshops „Tin molding” and „Candle making”. The smallest visitors of the event will get special pleasure participating in weaving of wax candles, and working with masters of „Workshop of a straw doll” – they will be able to make the straw doll here and to take it for keepsake. Both kids, and adults will be pleased by the shelter with 15 thoroughbred rabbits.

Fans of board games will be able to push luck in medieval game with bones but those who will wish to feel the real armor on their shoulders, will be able to visit a photo corner „Armor fitting room”, to put on full armor and to imprint this adventure in the unique photo.

Event visitors will be able to watch performances of „The Mauritius civil guards” and to enjoy medieval music – the group of performers of medieval music will play drums, reed-pipes and bagpipes.

„Medieval market” will take place on August 16, beginning at 11 a.m.
