Work on strengthening the steel structures of the Gastronomical Pavilion of the Riga Central Market began on 14 September 2016. It will be followed by the replacement of the floor structures in the pavilion. To comply with safety requirements, the Gastronomical Pavilion will be closed for the period of reconstruction, and trade will resume there after the work is fully completed.
Work on strengthening the steel structures is planned to be finished within two months, with the possibility of extending this period for up to two weeks if, during the reconstruction, the need arises to carry out additional work which was not included in the technical design, the contract or the technical specification of the open tender and which was impossible to identify and predict when drawing up the proposal. In turn, the replacement of the floor structures is projected to be completed within a month.
For the period when the Gastronomical Pavilion will be closed to public and traders, the tenants of the Gastronomical Pavilion are offered trade places in other pavilions of the Central Market so that the customers of the Central Market have the opportunity to buy their favourite products.
Rīgas Centrāltirgus AS calls for understanding on the part of the traders and the buyers in regard to the temporary inconvenience, while cooperating in achieving the aim of creating a modern, well-maintained and safe trading environment at the Riga Central Market.
