In November 2015, the Riga Central Market will celebrate its 85th anniversary. Celebrations, which will be held from 2 to 6 November, will include a variety of events.
A highlight of the celebrations will be the minting of a special 85th anniversary commemorative coin, the Riga Central Market Thaler, which will be created from the coins of different times and countries brought by visitors to the market, as well as sellers and tourists. The Central Market Thaler, nurtured through our joint efforts, will be kept and cared for so that it can be passed on to future generations and always be seen in one of the pavilions of the Riga Central Market as a unique historical artefact.
Everyone is welcome to join in the historical moment of creating the Riga Central Market Thaler by bringing one or more coins to the Vegetable Pavilion of the Riga Central Market. Your coin transformed into a historical thaler will hold a special epochal value.
